March 2010
BIBLE
CORNERSTONE/CREATIVE CURRICULUM FOCUS
Our
Bible focus this month will be “We Learn to Love Others”. Our Bible stories will be about the Good
Samaritan and Ruth and Naomi. Our Bible
verse is “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just
as Christ Jesus forgave you”. Ephesians
4:32.
We
are working hard to implement the Creative Curriculum in our classrooms. We have partnered with Early Childhood
Alliance as a part of Level 3 in Paths to Quality to accomplish this goal. A curriculum is an important tool in the
assessment of a child’s age appropriate development. It gives us a picture of where the child is
developmentally and how we can help them move to the next developmental
stage. Therefore, it helps us in our
lesson planning effort. It also helps us
to be more intentional in our classroom planning.
Beginning
March 1st, we will no longer be using the behavior charts in the
“white notebook” in your child’s classroom. The teachers will begin to use the Assessment
Tools in the curriculum at this time. This is a big endeavor and an essential part of the curriculum which
will play a big part in our Parent/Teacher Conferences scheduled for May 11th,
12th and 13th. Please put these dates on your calendar now! We want you there.
CORNERSTONE KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT
We
are now accepting applications for our 17th year of Cornerstone
Kindergarten. Parents of all Pre-K children have received a letter concerning
enrollment and the fee structure for the 10/11 school year. Stop by the display
booth set up by the daycare office to see the exciting things happening at
Cornerstone Kindergarten. Applications
for enrollment and other information are available at the display booth.
Children
will be interviewed prior to enrollment to insure they are ready for our kindergarten. Children will be interviewed when the
application is received.
FUNDRAISER! FUNDRAISER! FUNDRAISER!
Beginning
on March 1st through March 12th, Cornerstone is having a
fundraising opportunity for the families of the center and the
kindergarten. Enjoy the City is a coupon
book which offers hundreds of buy one get one free discounts for businesses in
our area. The profit from the fundraiser
will be used for classroom materials. Families who sell five books will receive 1 book free to use for their
families. What a great benefit!!!! Watch for the information in your child’s
cubbie.
STAFF ABSENCES
If
your child’s caregiver is absent due to illness or personal time off, a
substitute caregiver will be assigned to your child’s classroom so child/staff
ratios are maintained in accordance with our licensing regulations.
NAP BLANKET POLICY
In
an effort to maintain as sanitary and clean environment as possible for your
child, we are requesting that all nap items ie: blankets, stuffed animals,
cloth dolls, pillows, etc. are to be taken home every Friday to be washed. Since these items are stored on the cots it will allow the cots to air
out on the weekend, as well as provide a fresh and clean nap covering for your
child weekly. Remember to bring items
back every Monday!! Thanks for your help
to provide a better environment for your child and others.
*******CONGRATULATIONS*******
A
big congratulation is in order for Ms. Linda Newman and Ms. Jenny Mrak!! They have been awarded their Child
Development Associate (CDA) by the Council for Professional Recognition. Both Linda and Jenny have put in many hours
working towards this goal. Please stop
by their classroom and give them a pat on the back, high five or a hand shake
for a job well done.
