EARLY CHILDHOOD
EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY
Young children
thrive in an early childhood education environment which says,
"Welcome" ... with child-size equipment with accepting and
challenging adults, with creative learning materials and activities
all in a relaxed atmosphere characterized by the qualities of a
Christian environment - trust, fun, laughter, imagination, guidance,
work, achievement, hope, problem solving, love and peace.
A day in a child care
center is a day filled with games, laughter, music, exploration,
wonder, experimentation and growth. New friendships are formed.
Discoveries are made. Hurts are healed. Most important, each child's
sense of esteem grows stronger through the activities and
relationships experienced.
A SENSE OF
SELF-WORTH
At Cornerstone
Daycare Learning Center, we strive to plan meaningful days for the
children expanding their interests. We carefully observe each
child's behavior to gain insight into ways we can motivate,
challenge and guide them. Our goal is to support the development of
self-esteem and self-confidence resulting in the child's ability and
willingness to learn. We seek not to limit children because of their
age. At the same time, we value the tasks of early development -
physical, social, spiritual, emotional and intellectual. We strive
to accept each child as is, rather than judge them by what they do.
What you think of
me - Is what I think of me.
What I think of me
- Is what I become.
How children see
themselves influences the kind of friends they choose, how they get
along with others, and how productive they will be. Their feelings
about themselves form the core of their personality and determine
the use he/she makes of their aptitudes and abilities. A sense of
self-worth gives a child the security he/she needs to lead a full
life and to love and respect others. Throughout our curriculum, each
child's sense of self-worth is held most important.
BIBLICAL
ACTIVITIES
At Cornerstone
Daycare Learning Center, we believe it is of prime importance that
each child develops a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior. We seek to promote an atmosphere of positive
Biblical truths in order to build up a child and his/her
understanding of God's love and be in a position where they will
recognize there is need for a personal relationship with God at an
early age.
Biblical stories will
be presented weekly for the students to respond to through songs,
prayers, and creative activities. We realize that there are some
different approaches to specific doctrines within the mainline
denominational Christian churches. It is not our intention to
promote these differences in the Christian educational process of
our child care program, but instead to promote the unity of the Body
of Christ. No indoctrination of any particular religion is
discussed; we concentrate on Biblical principles and truths
